Happy Birthday to Alex!

Alex turned one on Saturday! We had a family party at our house and celebrated with sandwiches, a great lemon cake (catered by Prontos in Royal Oak) and ice cream. Alex was a little shy at first but ended up having fun once he saw some bright colors on his new toys! He stayed true to his personality with the cake too - very neatly dipping his hand in the frosting and licking it off. Lots of pictures to follow with some comments...

Alex's b-day outfit - right after he woke up from his nap to see a full house waiting for him

The following gift was from Aunt Jenna. Her friend, who is a senior in high school hand painted (literally painted with her hands/fingers) this portrait from a picture Jenna printed out for her. I've attached the photo that Jenna gave her below it. It's really amazing and right on. The portrait is in a frame, so there's a camera flash reflection - so ignore the bright spot.

Having fun with wrapping paper

His new Radio Flyer car. I love his little birthday cap backwards too! He's ready for the road.

Singing Happy Birthday with his teddy bear cake.

Believe it or not, this is a 'during' picture. Our boy likes to be neat I guess!

Trying to pick it up, but it was too slippery.

The end. Not bad at all, no smashing, but he did like it!

Trying out his new car and wearing his Tigers hat from mommy and daddy.

Trying out his new Bounce and Spin Zebra this morning. He's still a little short, but he likes it when we help him :)
