Fun at the Zoo!

A couple weekends ago we went to the zoo. It went well, but since the animals are so far away from the fences and such, Alex wasn't interested in all of the animals. We had fun anyway. So here's a collection of pictures and videos of our trip. This post is also partially for him to look at, so I apologize if you're unimpressed by pictures of the deer! lol

The lions were pretty far away, like the other animals, but when we were about to walk away, the 2 began talking to each other. I think Alex was pretty surprised to hear they made noises (even though he knows that lions roar).

After we saw a lot of the animals, we went to eat. We ate hotdogs for lunch (this is important). Then we went and saw the polar exhibit, but I guess we didn't get pictures of the seals swimming over our heads. Alex did like watching them swim, so that was a good exhibit. The last exhibit we really saw was the farm exhibit. We saw a bull, a pig that was spotted (so Alex thought it was a cow), the "bucka-buckas" aka chickens, and finally a horse. Alex still loves his horses. Josh made the comment that the horse was devouring the grass like a lawn mower, or a bubble mower, so then Alex kept saying horsey bubble mower! geez. (this video is more for Alex's viewing)

Finally, what would a trip be without a souvenir? We looked at all the stuffed animals which were realistically colored, so most of them were a boring brown, black or white. Alex wasn't impressed. Finally he got all excited and started pointing at what he wanted...a hot pink flamingo! haha. I think it was the bright color, so then we showed him the brightly colored frogs and he immediately shoved this one in his mouth!

All in all it was a good day. All weekend we asked if he had fun at the zoo ("Yeah!") and then we asked, What did you see at the zoo? He happily said "hotdogs!" :) With more questioning we'd get "horsey bubble mower," monkeys, bucka-buckas, and lions, but it is quite funny that the hotdogs stuck out in his mind!
